Tafal is a collaborative project between ZfinMalta and Valletta 2018 narrating traditional maritime stories through film, as interpreted by contemporary choreographers and dancers.
Tafal presented both technical and conceptual challenges, including filming underwater. Soundtracks were written by local artists Kantilena, Brodu and Plato’s Dream Machine to accentuate the theme of the stories, which we further defined with hand lettered titles. Promoted through an integrated marketing strategy, the five films are permanently on view on a custom designed web site.
Tafal saw 2x the international exposure of other projects, achieving a 10% lift in website sessions, an 11% lift in social media audience size, and reaching three quarters of the national population. Tafal over-performed across key performance indicators, confirming our belief that history has a relevant and important place in the digital sphere.
